Shelterbelt Trimming Services is owned and operated by Barry and Sandra Saville, we are based in Carterton and have been operating since April 2008. With a purpose built multi-blade saw Barry can trim to 14m and top to 10m, specialising in trimming shelterbelts and hedges as well as individual trees.
The business has grown steadily and we now wish to provide existing and potential clients with an easy way to see what new services we have to offer ( keep checking ) and a way of finding out what area we are working in.

Free Advisory Service - New Plantings
We are happy to visit your site and give you advice on placement of new plantings, to ensure any trimming requirements in the future will be as hassle free as possible. We recommend you speak to a nursery or someone qualified as to the type of plants you use.

Care of existing plantings is vital to the health, effectiveness and look of these trees.
Leaving it too long between trims can make it hard for trees to recover and some will
not look as good as they could.
Caring For Your Trees
The use of circular saws for trimming enables a smoother cut with less harm to the tree. Trees need a smooth clean cut so the wound can heal with the natural sap forming a seal over the wound. When a flail or shear is used it leaves a torn finish that the tree cannot seal, this can let water in causing it to die back or possibly rot killing the tree.

Area Covered - Regular Runs
We are based in Carterton and presently cover the whole Wairarapa as well as Pahiatua.
We offer regular runs as far north as Pahiatua, also Bideford and Alfredton. Our aim is to set up as many regualr runs as possible and to get these runs as large as possible. This is not only cost effective for us but also for the clients as they are able to budget around this, another advantage is we are able to divide any transportation costs between many clients. We are happy to travel to any area if there is enough work.
Clean Up
At present we do not offer an in-house cleanup service but are able to arrange another contractor to do this for you.
